why was i blocked? [updated]

I cant get on my account. so i have free riced for a month now and all of the sudden i cant log in to my account. i had it written down so i know its right. also i entered it every day. was i blocked? i havent earned that many to be assumed as a bot. i only have a lil over 70000 grains. whats going on?

I disabled my ad blocker, but the warning still appears. Maybe you could provide a list of all ads you can show on freerice, so I can explicitly allow them...

Past few times when I've started a new game of world capitals, Mbabana has been repeated as a question several times before any other capital is asked. I clear my cookies every time I close my browser (Firefox 12.0).

Could you Create a Trophy or Badge Page where players could go to and look at Trophies they have earned for getting 50 correct answers, 1000 or 10,000 grains of Rice, 100 grains in each subject etc. ? It would be fun and would also encourage players to learn more, get a sense of Achievement and try a range of subjects.

You should have a bonus page of harder questions and 2x the adds, so you can give more rice. [updated]

For informal uses of words, as was mentioned in an article on FreeRice. Actually, this gives me another idea. There could be a category titled 'Slang', and one titled 'Idioms'. Slang would give you questions like, What does 'chill' mean in this sentence? "Chill out, man!" Laugh Sigh Relax Tense Or whatever. The idiom category would request the real meaning of common idioms, getting tougher or maybe more obscure as the levels increase. What does this idiom mean? "A chip on one's shoulder." Being upset for something that happened in the past. Possessing a unique talent or skill. A very small part of something big or whole. A very mild punishment. This could also be converted into the other language sites that have English categories, as novice non-native english speakers can be tripped up by these, and it would be helping them to learn!

Does FreeRice really earn grains of rice?

In the WFP newsletter, FreeRice is never mentioned. Other quizzes, donating and what not are always listed as ways you can help feed hungry people, but this perfectly free game never gets the spotlight I believe it deserves. Does the advertisement money made of this game go directly to buying food for those who need it, or is it just a ploy to make us donate and get involved in other expensive ways? Why not update more on how FreeRice itself is helping, a way everyone, even those with little spare money themselves, can help?

Hi Brooky,

The site currently donates 10 grains for every correct answer already.

That rice is paid for by sponsored adverts that display under the correct answer. At this point, the rate we can charge for those adverts and the cost of rice, means we can only manage to donate 10 grains for each answer.

However, it all adds up! So far, together, we have raised enough to feed over 5 million people!

I have to log in every day even though I never clear the cookies. And this only happens at freerice.com but not other sites, so doesn't look like problem of my computer. And my iphone (using safari) has the same problem.

Freerice was experiencing a overloaded databases and servers recently - we're a nonprofit with limited resources and so do not have the same sized servers and databases of social networks like Facebook.

While we were pleased to have so much traffic and players on site, we needed to reduce the load.

When cookies are stored it sends multiple queries to our servers, and so we have implemented a solution that clears your cookie base after a period of inactivity, meaning you need to login (much as CafePress and Twitter do).

While we understand it's convenient to avoid logging in daily, it a necessity to ensure our site remains live so that you and other can raise rice.

We do have a stringent antibot, as bots and scripts are very damaging to our site and our reputation.

However, there are other reasons you may not be able to access your account:

Make sure to:
- check the spelling
- use exactly the same upper and lower case letters (eg "MyPassword" should contain an upper case "M" and "P")
- remove unwanted spaces, even from the end of your password
- make sure to enter your username, NOT your email address

Can you let us know your username, so that we can check your profile for you?

Graduate students love this site, and could be of great help if we were allowed to submit, edit, review, and use new and advanced questions. This is a great foundation site and has tons of room to grow as a teaching and learning tool. So can we sign in as moderators or be part or freerice's team to help take this site to the next level!

We're a nonprofit, we don't have lots of funds and everything we donate we have to raise.

To raise the funds to purchase the rice, we use sponsored advertising, so for every correct answer you choose a sponsored advert covers the cost of the rice you raise.

We would love to be able to give food to everyone who needs it, and to end world hunger. And while we believe this is possible, we cannot do it without players like yourself taking time to raise the food.

So far, together, we have raised enough to feed over 5 million people. So, that's pretty good as a start.
